Washington and the Giants played a fun game in Week 6, decided in the final seconds, and they’ll go at it again to conclude their NFC East season series Sunday afternoon in suburban DC. New York owns four wins in a row over its divisional rival but barely escaped a Washington rally three weeks ago. The home team is favored by a field goal for this game; how are we playing it with our free NFL pick?

NFL Betting Odds

Week 9 NFL betting odds opened Washington at -3.5 over New York, with an over/under of right around 43. Early betting action then dropped the hook off that spread and dipped that total to 42.

Giants vs. Washington Betting Preview

New York is a tough-luck 1-7 on the season, after losing at home Monday night to Tampa Bay 25-23. The Giants fell down 3-0 early, then scored the game’s next 14 points and led 14-6 into halftime. New York still led 17-15 into the fourth but a bad Daniel Jones interception started a 10-point Tampa run, creating a 25-17 deficit. The Giants then drove 70 yards to a touchdown with 28 seconds left but came up empty on a 2-point conversion that would have forced overtime.

However, New York covered easily as a 13-point home dog.

On the night the G-Men out-gained Tampa 357-344 and out-rushed the Bucs 101-81. But New York also lost the turnover battle 2-1, resulting in a crucial -3 points differential.

Basically the Giants outplayed Tampa for the first three quarters of the game, then pissed it away.

New York has now out-rushed each of its last three opponents, going 2-1 ATS along the way.

The Giants have also now lost four games this season by four points or less and three games in which they led in the fourth quarter. Two weeks ago they led Philadelphia 21-10 with six minutes left but lost 22-21.

At 1-7 New York is just trying to create some momentum for the future.

Washington, meanwhile, snapped a five-game losing streak last time out, beating hapless Dallas 25-3 two weeks ago. The Team then had last week off.

Washington turned an early safety against the Cowboys into nine points, which one should, led 22-3 at the half and cruise-controlled home from there for the much-needed victory, albeit against a terrible team.

On the day Washington out-gained Dallas 397-142, out-rushed the Cowboys 208-83 and won time of possession by a 36:24 split. Also, the only points Dallas scored were set up by a 67-yard kickoff return. Otherwise, that Washington defense might have thrown a shutout.

Washington is now 1-2 SU, 2-1 ATS since inserting Kyle Allen as the starter at quarterback.

At 2-5 overall, unbelievably, Washington only trails first-place Philly by one game in the miserable NFC East.

Giants-Washington Recent History

New York owns a four-game winning streak over Washington, going 3-1 ATS in the process, following a 20-19 victory three weeks ago in New Jersey. The Giants led 10-0 early and 20-13 late, let Washington get within a point with 36 seconds left but stopped a 2-point conversion to secure the win.

However, Washington covered as a two-point dog.

Also, that game played under a total of 42.5.

Free NFL Pick

The Giants are playing on the road on a short week and after giving a great but ultimately futile effort Monday night against the Bucs. We expect a letdown. Washington, meanwhile, is coming off a win and a week off. Also, while they lost that game three weeks ago Washington outplayed New York that day. We’re giving the points with the Football Team here.
