Can the Washington Huskies possibly carry their momentum from last week’s upset win over then No. 8 Stanford into Autzen Stadium and do the same to the Ducks? Hey, it’s college football; you never know what can happen. UW QB Keith Price will try to help his team knock off another ranked team this Saturday in Eugene but he’ll need every star in his atmosphere to pull off another program changing victory. Meanwhile, the Oregon Ducks are coming off a win over the Washington State Cougars last week in Seattle at Century Link Field.
The Huskies defense played fantastic against Stanford especially in pivotal situations. With the D holding up its end of the deal head Coach Steve Sarkisian knew if his team got the ball past Stanford’s first line of defense they would have a chance to score. The Huskies did get the ball past the front line just enough to sneak a victory. RB Bishop Sankey carried the ball for the Huskies 20 times for 144 yards and a touchdown. Price finished the game 19 of 37 for 177 yards and touchdown.

It was a pertinent win for the Huskies as they are now 3-1 and 1-0 in Pac 12 (3rd in North) while the Ducks enter this week ranked 2nd in the nation and 1st in the Pac 12 North. Washington faithful are hoping for the program to finally get back to its winning roots but beating Oregon at home is never an easy task. However, Oregon has a reputation in the past years to get out big early in the season only to fall in the middle to a cellar dweller although the Huskies are not at the bottom of the food chain they aren’t at the top either. Will Oregon deflate at home this weekend? It is the middle of the season nearly. Perhaps the most memorable Oregon meltdown was a few years back when the Ducks were ranked No. 3 and on the cover of Sports Illustrated when the Washington State Cougars came to Eugene and pounded the Ducks by four touchdowns.
Kenjon Barner. He deserves his own sentence. Barner only finished last week’s win over the WSU Cougars with a total of 232 yards offense with 3 rushing TDs and 1 TD in the air for a total of four TDs on the night. The Oregon Ducks let the Cougars hang around for a while in the first half but in the second half the Duck slammed the door both offensively and defensively. There is a reason Oregon is ranked No. 2 in the countrythey’re pretty good.
Oregon will need to take care of business a lot quicker this week when a hungry, motivated Washington Husky team comes to town. The Ducks and the Huskies have always had a decent rivalry and this week should prove to be another dog vs. duck showdown. For the Huskies it will be a challenge these next couple of weeks as they will face yet another ranked opponent in No. 13 USC next week, but first they need to rock the college football world by upsetting the Ducks in Eugene! Will the Dogs bring their bite or will the Ducks fly away with a home victory?
The Ducks are just too good in every category especially team speed-the Huskies will need their defense to somehow stop the Kenjon Barner or the game will be over by the end of the first half. The books are spotting the Dogs +24.5 already, and the total is currently off. I like the Ducks to shake off their early sluggishness of last week’s battle in Seattle and put the hurt on the Huskies early and often in Eugene.
