The New York Jets will host the Jacksonville Jaguars in a intraconference clash when the AFC South meets with the AFC East at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday, October 1st, 2017. The Jets defeated the Jaguars in their last meeting in 2015 when Gang Green knocked off the Jags by a score of 28-23 at the Meadowlands. Overall, the Jets have won the last three meetings between both parties. Kick-off is scheduled at 1:00 PM with the festivities to be aired live for regional demographics on CBS.

The Jaguars come in off a victory in London that will cause many to take a second look at them. Jacksonville remains a deadly team in International Series competition as they simply play at a higher level in the UK by virtue of a quasi-home field advantage. The City of London has taken to the Jags and they made an example out of the undefeated Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. The Jaguars would win the game by emphatic margins as they would crush the Birds by a score of 44-7. In the early shaping of this market, we saw some initial action come in on the Jaguars. However, the number on the Jets is now coming down. New York enters off a very impressive Week 3 victory. The Jets crushed the Miami Dolphins at home last Sunday when they jumped out to a 20-0 lead. The Jets were taking back significant points but finished with a 20-6 win against their AFC East rivals.

The Jets were expected to be a disaster all season long. Some predicted the Jets to go winless in 2017 but that theory has been put to rest. It is very likely that the Jets win is creating a huge reaction from the betting public. Initially, we saw this market as high as -4.5 for the Jaguars now that number has dropped by a point. Nevertheless, 74% of the cash is with Jacksonville and 85% of the tickets have been placed on them as well. Furthermore, 64% of the consensus are eager to spot the road points to Gang Green. Despite this football team being in a rebuilding year, their starting quarterback Josh McCown has been solid. The quarterback controversy has been ended and so has the speculation that Gang Green are tanking this season for the possibility of earning the top draft pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. In this predicament, the expectations for the Jets remain low be that the Miami win could be classed as a fluke despite the dominant performance by the Gang Green defense. The Jaguars have had many years of lofty prognostication and be that they are in the weakest division arguably in football, they are expected to be more competitive this year than the Jets. Situationally, this fixture sets up New York to improve to .500, a possibility outside of the realm of plausibility to many pundits. However, Jacksonville has yielded helter-skelter results in its own right in its 2017 campaign. This is a team with an impressive win in Week One against Houston only to follow it up with a huge egg against the Titans in the following week.

Once again, it seems that the Jets are offered at a qualitative price given the fact that there is a possibility they can win this game as well. The Jets defense has been solid and their quarterback has been efficient. Jacksonville has played well against teams with questionable offensive units whose defenses were highly-vaunted in the preliminary stages of the contest. Houstons defense has proven to have taken a step back and Baltimore has shown to have taken advantage of weak teams in the first two weeks of football. The Jets have illustrated that they are far more formidable on offense. The Jaguars will have their hands full in this one even if the Jets are not expected to be a playoff team this year. As a whole, Gang Green is a tough team to beat in the Meadowlands be that their fans are some of the most rabid in football. This can result in an outright upset.
