The New Orleans Saints picked up their easiest win of the season last week in a 28-6 victory over the Carolina Panthers. The Saints’ defense took care of business against the worst offense in the NFL, and QB Derek Carr put together a reasonable outing, going 18 for 26, resulting in 119 yards with two touchdowns and one pick. Thanks to Tampa Bay’s win over Atlanta last week, the Saints’ victory over the Panthers forced a 3-way tie in the NFC South at 6-7 SU. Fortunately for New Orleans, they have the easiest remaining schedule in the division, starting with this week’s homestand against the New York Giants at Caesars Superdome.

While the G-men appear to be another easy victory for the Saints, the Giants proved they should not be taken lightly in last week’s upset win over the Packers on Monday Night Football. The Giants’ offense got a big lift in the running game from RB Saquan Barkley and QB Tommy DeVito, who is becoming a fan favorite around the league. The two players led a Giants’ rushing attack that amassed more than 200 yards on the ground against the Packers, and DeVito also led a clutch game-winning drive to produce the 24-22 victory over the Packers. If the Giants can sustain and build off last week’s offensive momentum, perhaps they can score a few more upsets before the season concludes, and that will be the goal this week in New Orleans.

New York Giants vs. New Orleans Saints Betting Analysis

From a betting perspective, we would typically try to steer clear of inconsistent teams. For this week’s match-up between the Giants and Saints, we are forced into an uncomfortable situation because both offenses have been wildly inconsistent throughout the season. Despite last week’s win over the Panthers, I would still claim that Saints QB Derek Carr looks relatively pathetic and has looked that way for most of the season. TE Taysom Hill missed last week’s game against the Panthers, and the Saints’ running game struggled without his utility packages. RB Alvin Kamara is more than capable of big performances, but I feel like he is easier to target in traditional packages. While Hill should be back in the lineup this week, I believe the Saints will need to get the running game going because Carr has appeared to be anything but reliable in the passing attack.

Fortunately for the Saints, the Giants have been among the worst defenses in the league against the run, allowing 135 yards per game. However, the Saints’ defense has not been much better against the run, allowing 131.5 yards per game as one of the bottom seven defenses in the NFL. Last week, QB Tommy DeVito made some big plays in the running game, which rattled the Packers’ defense. Similar to New Orleans, I don’t have any faith in the Giants’ passing attack, especially with far less talent in the receiving corps. Therefore, if the Giants are truly going to challenge in this game, I believe both DeVito and Barkley have to provide another big performance on the ground, which in the grand scheme of things would not be that surprising against the Saints’ run-defense.

New York Giants vs. New Orleans Saints Betting Prediction

I know the situational circumstances this week entail a New Orleans team that needs to keep winning to keep their playoff hopes alive. However, there is absolutely nothing that I have seen from New Orleans to warrant being a near-touchdown favorite over any team in the NFL outside of the Panthers. I believe in the DeVito magic, but, more importantly, I don’t believe in this Saints offense. As a result, I will gladly take the points in this one!
