The Seattle Seahawks are back in the win column after beating the Carolina Panthers last week in Charlotte 13-9. After Seattle dropped back to back games to the Cowboys at the Link, and then to the Rams on the road, they ground out yet another ugly but effective W against Carolina. Russell Wilson orchestrated a last minute drive that led to a touchdown to close out the contest. Meanwhile, the Raiders woes continue as they have not won a game this season. Oaklands latest loss came at Cleveland last week 13-23. I have not seen a more struggling NFL team and overall organization. The Raiders are obviously in a dark place and Im afraid its only going to get darker for them this weekend in Seattle.

The Seahawks are not without their own drama of sorts. The league has been abuzz with the recent trade of Percy Harvin to the Jets and this week more rumors are surfacing about the potential trade or heres the door offer to a supposedly bad-attitude-driven-no-love-havin RB Marshawn Lynch. In any case, the Seattle Seahawks have their issues too, but they are the defending superbowl champs and they should have no problem handing the Raiders their 8th loss on the season.

Defensively, the Seahawks are finally getting healthy again after some banged up bodies recovered. The Hawks D showed up last week against the Panthers and reminded us all why they have ringsthey are as good as any defense ever when they are healthy. Seattle knows this is the halfway point of the season and now is the time to gel together and start making a case for the playoffs and home field advantage. Although the win at Carolina last week was not stellar, it was a significant statement and confidence booster for the champs. Seattle will be even tougher at home even with the current line at 14.5 they will likely cover because they are playing Oaklandsorry Raiders but I dont see you guys getting more than a field goal per half.

Seattle really dominates every statistical category in this contest. It is truly not a difficult game to pick, but Ive been burned before on occasion. However, I honestly cannot see how the Raiders come into Seattle and win. It will literally take a miracle for the Raiders to threaten the Hawks at home. Oakland has almost no rushing gamethey average 70 yards per game! With a dismal ground attack, Oakland all but invites the Hawks top ranked secondary to sit back and pick apart the passing game. The Hawks running game is more than double that of the Raiders. Seattle rushes for an average of 148 yds per game and they get 202 in the air. Oakland is averaging 228 through the air. The interesting fact in this matchup is that Oakland actually leads the series since 2001 with a 3-2 record versus the Hawks. The last meeting in 2010 Oakland won 33-3, but oh how times have changed.

The Seahawks are 2-1 ATS at home and they have not been an underdog yet this season. Oakland is on suicide watch as a football team and desperately needs to make improvements but Seattle will not be the place to do that. Sorry Oakland fans but you will have to suffer another beat down in the Pacific Northwest and it might literally rain on you too! This game will be all Seattle as they look to improve their record and make a strong second half run into the playoffs. Russell Wilson leads his Hawks despite the rumors and dramathe Hawks send the Raiders packing and win by a ton!

Welcome to week 9 of the NFL! Take Seattle to cover big time! Luck to ya!

Wilsons Pick to Cover the Point Spread: Hawks cover. Seattle 42, Oakland 13.
