Week Nine features a NFC East rivalry for the ages as the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants will face off at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey with a 1:00 PM scheduled kick-off. The game is due to be aired on FOX for larger audiences as this is a historic East Coast feud. Both teams enter on contrasting notes as the Giants come in off a win in Great Britain against LA while the Eagles are reeling from a gut-wrenching loss at Dallas.
This market has a wide range of options as we have seen a price offered as low as -0.5 on the G-Men ranging upward of -3. Generally markets of this nature are designed to lure takers on the team with the points as the general conception is if they take the favorite with three points they will go ahead and win. However, this is bait and the Giants given their recent accolades may be setting up takers for a huge let-down as this contest may be settled by a mere point.
The Eagles have won the last four in this rivalry series between The Big Apple and The City of Brotherly Love, yet Philly has lost all three of their losses on the road this year. The Eagles have done far better than many expected so far this year and given the fact the Eagles have fared well in this rivalry series against Big Blue, the majority has thrown their chips down on the Eagles. For what it is worth the Eagles defeated Minnesota 21-10, perhaps their most impressive victory this season at home. However, as stated home field advantage is a big role in this contest as both teams combined are 5-1 SU at home this season.
The Giants come in off a 17-10 victory in Twickenham, Great Britain when the Giants went forth and captured their fourth win in the NFL International Series against the Los Angeles Rams. The Giants continues to look lackluster despite having weapons in their arsenal. Yet despite the inconsistent offense, the G-Men find ways to win and that has to be credited to their game experience overall combined with the pure talent in their ranks that cannot be denied. The Giants have the potency to explode at any point. Within the Giants personnel we have sung the praises of both wide receivers Victor Cruz and Odell Beckham, Jr. and that in itself is worth banking on in this situation against a Philadelphia defense that is fully susceptible to giving up the long ball at any given point even if they are a tasty fantasy option in terms of defensive units.
We are simply going to approach this one yet again from the perspective of home field advantage. Against the spread the Giants may sometimes lay eggs and thus in a rivalry game of this nature, the G-Men spotting incremental points is far more friendly than a higher volume overall. The Eagles have some impressive wins on their resume and that is likely what many takers are banking on. Like many other teams previous to, the Eagles are the next squad up to descend in to the volatile environment of MetLife Stadium. These variables serve as prime rationale for us to spot the home points. We are going to go ahead and call for the Giants to end their losing streak against Philly but not by enough to secure a cover.
