The two hottest teams in the NFL will collide this Sunday for a week 3 showdown when the Miami Dolphins host the Buffalo Bills inside Hard Rock Stadium. In just two weeks, Buffalo has quickly become the team to beat in the AFC and perhaps the entire NFL following blowout victories over the defending Super Bowl Champions, in the Los Angeles Rams, and a completely dominant performance over Tennessee on Monday in another 41-7 blowout. Needless to say, Buffalo has been the most impressive team in the NFL to start the season but a scary trip to Miami awaits on Sunday.

After a somewhat expected win over the Patriots in the opener, the Dolphins stole the week 2 spotlight with a dramatic come from behind victory over the Ravens. The Dolphins appeared to be destined for their first loss of the season as they fell behind 35-14 in the 3rd quarter to Baltimore. However, QB Tua Tagovailoa connected on two bombs to WR Tyreek Hill for 48 and 60 yard touchdown passes. WR Jaylen Waddle was also phenomenal with 171 receiving yards and 2 scores. When the dust settled, Tagovailo ended with 469 passing yards, 6 touchdowns, and 2 picks in a wild 42-38 comeback victory to push the Dolphins to 2-0 SU and 2-0 ATS.

When Miami hosts Buffalo on Sunday, it will feature two of the best offenses in the NFL. QB Josh Allen has been nearly perfect in execution for Buffalo and WR Stefon Diggs already has 4 touchdowns in just two games. Meanwhile, the Dolphins 2nd half emergence last week reminded everyone of the firepower that the Dolphins have on the offensive side of the football and the homerun style threat that Hill has added to the offense. Needless to say, this match-up between the Bills and Dolphins will feature two of the NFL’s most exciting offenses that are expected to produce plenty of fireworks with a 54 point total.

Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins Match-Up Analysis

When I look at this game from a match-ups perspective, I think Buffalo should be laying more points and it is primarily because of the play of the defense. The Bills made some offseason moves that added more depth to the defense and when healthy this is among the best defenses in the league. In two games, the Bills held the Rams to just 10 points and completely shut down the Titans in a 41-7 stomping where the defense scored as many points as the Titans entire offense. Buffalo’s defense produces a lot of pressure on opposing quarterbacks and has excellent talent in the secondary to capitalize on quarterback mistakes.

These ingredients could be troublesome for the Dolphins offense if QB Tua Tagovailo has anything less than another spectacular performance. Before last week’s incredible 2nd half performance, Tagovailoa and the Dolphins offense was not exactly firing on all cylinders. Tua tossed two first-half interceptions in what can be described as a bipolar performance from the 1st half to the 2nd half. My concerns for this match-up against Buffalo is that I highly doubt Miami will be able to climb their way back into this fight if they are not stellar in both halves. What many people are forgetting is that Miami’s 2nd half miracle last week was against the worst pass defense in the NFL.

Buffalo’s defense does not have those same types of weaknesses. They will keep pressure on Tua all 60 minutes and will capitalize on any mistakes. Meanwhile, Buffalo’s offense has been flawless with QB Josh Allen who has tossed 7 touchdowns and 2 picks on the season. For the record, both interceptions were not Allen’s fault and these numbers do not accurately reflect how well he has played. Add in this week’s return of WR Gabriel Davis, I just don’t see many ways the Dolphins defense will win enough possessions to keep this game in reach barring yet another miraculous offensive performance against one of the top defenses in the NFL.

Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins Betting Prediction

My only concern in this game is the fact that Buffalo will be traveling to Miami in an atypical hot climate. As long as the Bills avoid a complete dud in the hot Miami weather, I like the Bills here in a big way!
