The Tampa Bay Buccaneers can clinch their first division title since 2007 when they host the rival New Orleans Saints for an NFC South bout Sunday night in Tampa. The defending Super Bowl champs are also right in the hunt for the top seed in the upcoming NFC playoffs, while the Saints need a victory to keep their playoff hopes alive.

The Bucs are lined as double-digit favorites for this one. Which way are we going here with our free NFL betting pick?

NFL Betting Lines

The Week 15 NFL betting odds opened Tampa at -11.5 over New Orleans, with an over/under of right around 47. Early betting action then dipped the Bucs to -11.

Saints Betting Preview

New Orleans just snapped a five-game losing skid with a 30-9 victory at the Jets last week. The Saints hit the board first with an early field goal and led 10-6 at the half. New Orleans then pulled away in the second half, outscoring New York 20-3 for the win and the cover as 4.5-point favorites.

The Saints, with RB Alvin Kamara back after missing four games, out-gained the Jets 344-256, out-rushed New York 203-78, and dominated time of possession by a 39:21 split.New Orleans has actually out-gained four of its last six opponents and out-rushed six of its last eight foes. Unfortunately, the Saints are also -6 on the turnover margin over their last six games.

At 6-7 overall, New Orleans is not going to catch Tampa Bay in the NFC South, but it’s tied with Washington and three other teams in the battle for the No. 7 spot in the NFC playoff standings.

Buccaneers Betting Preview

The Bucs, meanwhile, are 4-0 both SU and ATS their last four times out after outlasting Buffalo in overtime last week 33-27. Tampa scored the first 10 points of the game and led 24-3 at the half. But the Buccaneers later allowed the Bills to score the last 17 points of regulation to force OT. Tampa then won the game with a defensive stop and a 58-yard pass-catch-run touchdown midway through the extra period.

The Buccaneers out-gained Buffalo 488-466, and two-thirds of the yardage the Tampa defense allowed came in prevent mode. Then again, prevent modeled to overtime.

The Bucs have out-gained three of their last four opponents, but they’ve also been out-rushed by four of their last six foes. Tampa’s also averaging only 92 yards on the ground over its last six games, and that concerns us.

At 10-3 overall, the Buccaneers are tied with Green Bay and Arizona for the No. 1 spot in the NFC playoff standings, although they sit in the No. 2 spot because of a conference tie-breaker.

Saints-Bucs Recent History

New Orleans is 3-1, both SU and ATS vs. Tampa, since the Bucs got Brady. The Saints swept the season series from TB last year, but the Buccaneers then beat New Orleans in a divisional-round playoff game 30-20. The Saints then won the first meeting between these two teams this season 36-27 back in October. However, Drew Brees, now retired, quarterbacked New Orleans in all three of those meetings last season, and Trevor Siemian quarterbacked the Saints in that win ear-lier this season.

Free NFL Betting Pick

Tampa is the better team here and will probably win this game, but New Orleans has Kamara back, and its defense ranks No. 11 in the League. Also, playing at home means the spread is probably inflated by three or four points toward the Bucs. So while we’re not calling for the out-right upset here, we are taking the Saints and the points.
