The Seattle Seahawks will take their game on the road this weekend as they fly to East Rutherford for a matchup with the New York Jets. Both teams have concerns at the quarterback positionSeattles Russell Wilson suffered a significant sprain to his left knee and for the first time in his career he missed a down and eventually left the game versus the 49ers last Sunday. However, the game was a blowout at that point (SEA 27, SF 3) and rookie backup QB Trevone Boykin finished the day behind center for the Hawks as they continued on to a 37-18 win over San Francisco. Boykin also threw his first NFL career touchdown pass as he hooked with Seattle WR Doug Baldwin on a 16-yard pass. Time will tell, but if Wilson cant go against the Jets, Boykin logged some good minutes and tossed a TD for the first time as a pro, so this will help his confidence if he is indeed called upon to fill in for RW.

On the other side of the field, the New York Jets QB, Ryan Fitzpatrick, probably had his worst outing as a professional football player last week as the Jets fell to the Kansas City Chiefs 24-3. Fitzpatrick threw 6 (six) interceptions. It was not the Fitzpatrick from the previous week where he had arguably one of his best games ever in a 37-31 win over Buffalo, but man, what a difference a week makes. The Jets, in total, turned the pigskin over 8 timesthats the most by a Jets team since 1975. Overall the Jets just looked terrible especially in the red-zone (Fitz had to picks from inside 7 yards both on questionable pass attempts). All the pressure will be on the Jets as they host the Seahawks, who, if Wilson is healthy, looked great at home last week after a sluggish start to the season.

The early opening line on the Hawks/Jets matchup has Seattle -2.5 with New York a home dog. The Over/Under is currently 40.5, but may move as the week ends. Seattle is 1-2 ATS on the season and has gone under twice while going over the total last week at home. Given Seattles recent fine-tuning on both sides of the ball I can see the Hawks making a strong showing in MetLife Stadium on Sunday. Perhaps the most dynamic offensive news for Seattle is the play of RB Christine Michael who has filled in for the injured Thomas Rawls. Michael rushed for 106 yards on 20 carries and 2 touchdowns, where the opening TD was a 41-yard sprint on his first carry of the game. This Seattle team will be a handful for the Jets defenders. The total might very well go OVER if the Hawks are firing on all points.

Russell Wilson, as of Monday morning, is said to be doing Exceedingly well according to Seahawks head Coach Pete Carroll. Wilson is rehabbing quickly and the coaching staff and trainers are being careful about his conditionbut it wouldnt surprise me if Wilson gets the start against the Jetshes just that kind of competitor who knows how valuable he is to his teams success. However, I also wouldnt be surprised to see Trevone Boykin get the nod either. The Hawks defense is playing as good as they usually do and if the offense executes like they know how, Wilson just might get more rest (well know more as the week goes). For all that, I really expect Wilson will be back against the Jets.

The point spread favors the road team here and Im normally a little nervous with the Hawks on the road but in this situation I think Seattle takes care of the Identity seeking Jets squad who are literally in dire straits. The big question in this contest is will the real Ryan Fitzpatrick please stand up? Or will the Jets crash land again but this time at home?

Im taking Seattle to cover the points. Luck to ya.

WILSONs Pick to Cover the Point Spread: Seahawks cover the spread.
