Christmas Eve will feature an inter-conference clash between the NFC Norths Chicago Bears and the NFC Easts Washington Redskins will face off in the Windy City at Soldier Field for a 1:00 PM ET scheduled kick-off. The game is set to be aired on FOX in selected demographics. Both teams enter off losses as Washington fell to Carolina on Monday Night football. As for Chicago, they continue to struggle mightily hoping to piece together a fourth win this season. The Bears have gone 1-5 in their previous six, despite covering their sixth in a row against the spread. The Bears went down swinging 30-27 against arch rival Green Bay, last Sunday. Traditionally Washington and Chicago are known as two of the most winningest franchises in NFL history.

The Bears have had a tumultuous year to say the least. The Bears have lost eleven games already and look like a franchise that is need in of drastic change. Let us remind people that the Bears are known for a commitment to winning games. Chicago football is renowned and to see the Bears at such a lowly mark is something many are not accustomed to. The Windy Citys Monsters of the Midway have looked nothing like the name has entailed. The noteworthy achievement for this franchise this season is the fact they own wins over the two teams that have sat on top of their division at some point this season, the Detroit Lions and the Minnesota Vikings. The Bears have nonetheless played teams tough even if they fell on the losing end. So for intent and purposes, when the Bears could easily have a few more wins to their credit even if the record is tough to look at. The Bears offense has only scored more than 20 points on four occasions this season and in those games they are 3-1 overall. Their defense has given them chances to stay in games.

The Redskins come in off a 26-15 loss against the Carolina Panthers on Monday Night, preceded by a huge win against their divisional rivals the Philadelphia Eagles. The entire country bore witness to the Panthers victory in prime time but regardless the stock on the Bears has plummeted so likely the Redskins may seem to be a good buy-back as opposed to a lay. Nevertheless the Redskins were fortunate to get away from Philadelphia with the win as it was Eagles miscues that paved the way for Washington get away with the win. The Redskins winning their previous six against Chicago has certainly opened the door for many takers to be quick to jump on the Skins regardless of recent results.

Washington is a .500 football team on the road as they are 3-3 away from D.C. Thus we will attack this market from the concept of home field advantage as the Bears are certainly a different team to play in Chicago than on the road. The Bears have owned some noteworthy wins at home this season and all three wins for the Monsters of the Midway have come in the Windy City. Most recently, the Bears smoked the 49ers by a score of 26-6 in their last victory at Soldier Field, three weeks ago. Washington has an opportunity to slither in to a wild card position. For Chicago their season is over, so the narrative here concerning the Redskins is the necessity to win versus the luxury to win for Chicago. However, Chicago is not a team that likes to be associated with losing and regardless of the circumstances and variables surrounding this contest the Bears will undoubtedly like to show up on Christmas Eve and give their fans a gift of a victory. Expect the Bears to enter this one with spirit and perhaps even pull an upset. Given the fact, the Bears have been extremely economical against the spread compared to their record overall, there is no reason to lay this team while they are frequently undervalued. This phenomenon is all the more likely when you consider the fact Chicago is going up against a team vying for a post-season berth.
