This Thursday night, the NFL has an NFC East contest between the Washington Redskins and the New York Giants. Believe it or not, the Redskins are in 2nd place in the division, while the Giants are tied with the Eagles in last place. The NFC East is still very much up for grabs. The Cowboys are missing Dez Bryant and Tony Romo for an extended time, the Giants have no idea what the term clock management means, and the Redskins are not looking as bad as many thought they would. This divisisin is anyones for the taking.

The New York Giants are favored by four points at home over the Redskins, and the total points are set at 43.5 combined between the two. Both teams are 1-1 against the spread and for the over/under, the Giants are 1-1 on the over, while both of the Redskins games have stayed under the posted total this season. As of Tuesday morning, 63% of the Vegas action is on the Giants to take care of business at home. Hmmmmm.

Although they are just 1-1, the Redskins have been a surprise so far in 2015. After benching RG3 for Kirk Cousins many felt the Redskins were just getting ready for ANOTHER rebuild, but, Cousins has looked pretty decent in the first two games. However, it is not the Washington offense that has them staying competitive. In game one this year, they lost just 17-10 to the Dolphins and then in week two took down the St Louis Rams 24-10a Rams team that just a week before put up 34 points on the Seattle Seahawks. Of course you cannot put too much stock into that because the NFL is all about match-ups and game plans, but it is rather impressive for the Redskins. The key to this game in my opinion will be to keep it close. If Washington leads or is within reach of the Giants, then it is anyones game at that point. If Eli Manning is having his way though, it could be a long day for the Redskins. Washington needs to keep this game in the teens or low 20s to have a shot.

The New York Giants fan base is not happy, well to be totally honest, they are absolutely angry. A team that could easily be 2-0 is sitting at 0-2 and have not even faced the toughest part of their schedule yet. In both of New Yorks losses, they had the lead at the two minute warning only to see their opponent score a winning touchdown. On the surface, the average person would blame the defense but that is not the case here. The Giants offense has not done a good job managing the clock at all. I would say both losses are 85% on the offense and the coaching staff. Anyhow, that is all in the past, and now here we are with the Giants again favored at home. In order to get their first win of 2015, and to cover the four point spread, the Giants must do a better job late in the game. I think if New York can force a few turnovers and Eli Manning get the passing game going against the Washington defense, it could be an easy first win for the G-men. BUT, they cannot let Washington slow the game down and keep it low scoring. If they do, the Giants may win, but covering the spread will be tough.

I am going to go straight gut instinct here, well, and logic. The Giants are 0-2 and have absolutely blown their first two games of the season. Washington is playing good defense and okay on offense. 63% of the bettors are taking a chance on a four point spread with a team that has shown no signs that they can finish anyone off. Yeah, no thanks. Until the Giants actually win a game, I will fade them, especially if the public is riding them like that. I predict another Washington win. The Skins will win this game like 20-17 or something.

Bobs Pick to Cover the Point Spread: TAKE THE REDSKINS +4 and UNDER the posted total.
