The Reds have traded Jeff Conine to the New York Mets
for a pair of no-names. Conine will likely serve as a pinch hitter and depth
on the bench. Jorge Cantu will take his spot in the Reds

Great move for both teams. – 8/20

Carlos Zambrano who signed a contract extension today for
$91.5 million over 5 years. That pencils out to 18.3 mill a year. When is

In a surprising move, the Tigers cut long-time Tiger outfielder Craig Monroe
and then promoted 20 year old Cameron Maybin who had only
played 6 games in AA this season. During his short minor league career (91
games) Maybin hit 14 homers, swiped 25 out of 31 bases, had a lofty .409
on base average, hit .316 and had a slugging % of .523. Most of his games

The “other” Adam Jones: The Seattle Mariners are expected to call up Adam Jones from their AAA affiliate and he is expected to get some solid playing time. Unlike Adam Pac Man Jones, we should hear nothing but good things about this kid, he can hit! In other MLB news, the Rangers have advised Sammy Sosa that his playing time will be cut into by 6’5″ switch hitting power hitter Jason Botts. While Sosa’s numbers were decent with 16 dongs and 70 RBI, management is not happy about his low batting average and on base percentage. The Arizona DBacks have called up 2005 number one pick Justin Upton. We’re a bit baffled regarding this callup as the kid is only 19 years old, but in his defense he was tearing the cover off the ball in single A ball and double A. – 8/2
