This Sunday at 1:00pm, the Buffalo Bills will travel south to
the warmer weather to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Both teams appear to be out
of their conferences respective playoff races, but neither organization
has decided to fold up shop just yet. Buffalo has a solid defense that has
played well all season, and they are still attempting to develop their young
quarterback, EJ Manuel…there is no time to give up now. Tampa on the other
hand has been well out of the playoff race pretty much since the season
started. What is alarming is that they have talent on both offense and defense.
Their appears to be some issues among the coaches and players, and this
season was a disaster from the get go. Tampa comes into this game favored
at home by your typical NFL three points, and the total points are set at
42.5. Tampa is coming off of a one sided 27-6 loss to the Carolina Panthers,
while the Bills lost at home in overtime to the Falcons. Whichever team
comes out with more energy and confidence will be the one to cover this
spread.

Buffalo comes into this game 4-8 overall but they have not really played as bad as their record. They just lost an overtime game with Atlanta that all they needed to do was not fumble the ball to win, and in week one this season, they let a big win slip away when they lost on a last second field goal to the New England Patriots. Not only those two games, but they also lost to Carolina by just one point, and had another overtime loss to the Bengals. Buffalo is playing well, they just need to learn how to finish games. The key to going into Tampa and winning this game will be their defense. If Buffalo can stuff the run and pressure Glennon (the Bucs QB), I can see the Bills having some success. The defense MUST take pressure off EJ Manuel. Manuel has played decent this season, but he isn’t ready to put this team solely on his shoulders just yet. I like this Buffalo team, and I will really like them in a year or two when they get a few more playmakers on the roster. But for now, they must be careful. Turnovers can kill them….just like it did against Atlanta.

Tampa Bay came into this season with some pretty high hopes. Many experts around the country, especially here in the southeast, really thought that the NFC South was going to be a four team race. Many believed Atlanta and New Orleans would lead the way, but Carolina and Tampa would keep it interesting til he very end. Well that has not been the case. Atlanta fell apart, Tampa is a disgrace, while Carolina and New Orleans are in a dog fight for the division lead and a possible first round bye in the playoffs. Tampa started this season 0-8 but since that start, they have been able to put together some wins. The little success they are having has come in part by the dark horse running back, Bobby Rainey, and the maturation of their quarterback, Mike Glennon. This is a talented team, they just need the chemistry to be a true contender. I don’t trust Buffalo to go on the road to score many points, therefore if Tampa can get the offense rolling, protect Glennon, and get Rainey in a rhythm, I like Tampa to win this game. But this will not be an easy task against the Buffalo D.

Bob’s Pick to Cover the Point Spread: Like I said, Tampa comes into this game as a home favorite. Typically that means the bookmakers see this game as a toss up. I do not see it that way. I think this line is way off. Yes, Tampa has played well the last month, but overall, I just like Buffalo much more. Not only that, but 68% of people are picking the Bucs in this game….why? I am not so sure what Tampa does that is so great that makes that game seem like it should be that easy. Buffalo has the better defense, the better running game, the better team chemistry, and the better record. Why on earth would anyone pick Tampa? Take Buffalo to win this game by a touchdown. Bills win this thing 21-13. PICK: BUFFALO +3
