The New York Giants will curate hosting duties at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey to take on one of their most hated rivals, the Dallas Cowboys. The G-Men will be looking to notch a win in the NFC East clash to obtain their first divisional win this season. The two teams last met earlier this season in Big D and were routed by Americas Team 19-3 at AT&T Stadium. Previous to this, the Giants had won three consecutive contests between both parties. The activities are set to kick off at 1:00 PM EST and will be aired on FOX.
The storyline surrounding the Giants is two major narratives. First, the unprecedented and unexpected benching of franchise quarterback Eli Manning. The event sent ripples throughout the fan base and across America, as the move itself was characterized as nothing short of inappropriate. The benching of Manning ended a streak that Eli took pride in, most consecutive starts in franchise history. In spite of the roster move, the Giants fell at Oakland by a score of 24-17, resulting in the dismissal of Head Coach Ben McAdoo. Despite a nefarious track record on the year, the Giants own two impressive wins. The first came in Denver when the G-Men were a 13.5-point pup. The Cowboys season has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. From the suspension of running back Ezekiel Elliot to the in-house controversies making its way to the front office, Dallas has had its fair share of troubles. Despite this, the Cowboys have muscled their way to a .500 record and have an opportunity to earn their seventh win to keep their post-season prospects alive. The Cowboys went to work on their arch rival on Thursday Night football when they hosted the hated Washington Redskins. The Cowboys would tar and feather the Skins by a score of 38-14.
With the firing of McAdoo and the Giants overall being subjected to some rather grisly losses in the previous few weeks, their stock is through the floor in this market. Whether it be against the Rams, Seahawks, or 49ers, the Giants have looked dead in the water in some of their previous contests. This team has had many misfortunes to start off their regular season campaign. Most notably, the injury bug biting each member of their receiving corps. Despite earning a possible top draft pick, the Giants are adamant in not tanking their season but rather trying to obtain as many wins as possible. That makes them a danger in this fixture.
From the get-go, we have noticed a lean on the Giants. This revealed by a 1.5-point line move downward from the opening bell. However, analytics indicate that all the action is on Dallas. The Giants are placed in favorable conditions for value as a result of that. The bottom line is this, the Giants have nothing to lose and everything to gain in this contest. Taking down an arch rival at home before an animated fan base is a great morale victory for a team that has endured a plethora of setbacks this season.
