The Houston Texans go on the road to take on the Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink Field in one of just 2 late Sunday afternoon games. Houston is coming off the bye week and will try to break the trend of losing every other week. Houston has been on a roll since replacing QB Tom Savage with rookie QB Deshaun Watson. Watson is 3-2 as a starter but almost pulled off the upset in New England in his second career start and the Texans have averaged 34 points a game in the games he has started. Seattle is on a 3 game winning streak and their defense has been dominating in those 3 games giving up a total of 35 points in the 3 wins.
Houston is led by QB Deshaun Watson who has completed 61.5% of his passes for 1,297 yards, 15 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Watson has also rushed for 202 yards and 2 touchdowns. The ground game is led by RB Lamar Miller who is averaging 3.8 yards per carry for a total of 372 yards. WR Deandre Hopkins has led the receiving corps with 37 receptions for 382 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Seattles offense struggled in the early part of the season but is slowly starting to improve. The Seahawks are led by QB Russell Wilson who has completed 63.6% of his passes for 1,556 yards, 11 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Seattle seemed to have found a RB in Chris Carson but he was lost in week 4 to a broken leg. The remaining RBs have struggled so far as Russell Wilson leads all of them with 164 yards on the ground. WR Doug Baldwin leads the receivers with 36 receptions for 376 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Texans are averaging 4.4 yards per rush against teams that average giving up 4.1 yards per play. The Texans have averaged 6.6 yards per attempt against teams who average giving up 6.6 yards per attempt. Overall the Texans are averaging 5.5 yards per play against teams that average 5.5 yards per play.
The Seahawks have averaged 3.9 yards per rush against teams that average 4.1 yards. In the passing game they have averaged 6.7 per attempt against teams that average 7.1 yards per pass attempt. Overall they have averaged 5.5 per play against teams that average 5.7 yards per play.
On defense, Houston has given up 4.0 yards per rush against teams that average 4.3 yards per rush. In the passing game they have given up 6.6 yards per attempt against teams that average 6.9 yards. Overall they have given up 5.4 yards per play against teams that average 5.7 yards per play.
Seattle has given up 4.7 yards per rush against teams that average 4.2 yards per rush. The Seahawks have allowed 5.3 yards per pass attempt against teams that average 6.2 yards per attempt. Overall they have given up 5.0 yards per play against teams that average 5.3 yards per play.
Jerbeeks Pick to Cover the Point Spread: Both of these teams have strong defenses and somewhat average offenses despite the big numbers that the Texans have put up in the last 4 games. The Texans will find the Seattle defense much more difficult and I think the Seahawks will slow down the rookie QB. I look for this game to be low scoring with Seattle winning by a score of 21-17. My recommendation is to play under the total of 44.5. Bet this game for FREE by taking advantage of a FAT 100% bonus up to $1000 at MyBookie! (Use Promo Code: PRDCT14)
