The New York Giants will take on the hosting duties at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey to welcome one of the AFCs most powerful teams to the Meadowlands. The G-Men will host the Kansas City Chiefs in a AFC West vs. NFC East intraconference clash. The two teams last met in the city that spans two states, Kansas City when the Giants were routed by the Chiefs 31-7 at Arrowhead Stadium in 2013. Overall, the Giants had won the previous four contests between both sides previous to the 2013 result. The activities are set to kick off at 1:00 PM EST and will be aired for regional demographics on FOX.
The storyline surrounding the Giants is the fact that they resemble nothing short of a dumpster fire under current Head Coach Ben McAdoo. From top to bottom, the Giants have all kinds of problems on both sides of the football. Thanks to a litany of injuries in their receiving corps, the Giants found themselves beleaguered in the early stages of their 2017-18 campaign. Their one win came against the Denver Broncos in the Mile High City. So far, this has been the High Water Mark for this franchise this season. Most recently, the Giants were thoroughly defeated by the winless San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara by a score of 31-21. The victory for San Fran marked their first of the season to the delight of Niners fans.
The Chiefs enter off a bye but previous to this they were subject to a considerable loss at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys on national television when KC fell in Big D in 28-17. The Chiefs got off to a scorching start when they went 5-0. Since then, the Chiefs have gone just 1-3 and have seemingly hit the brakes. The Chiefs feature some exceptional talent on their roster, including wide receiver Tyreke Hill, tight end Travis Kelce, and newcomer Kareem Hunt who has stolen the show at running back as a rookie. Under the captainship of Head Coach Andy Reid and stewardship of veteran quarterback Alex Smith, the Chiefs are one of the AFC favorites to go deep in 2017.
The Giants have been subjected to some rather heinous losses in the previous few weeks. Most notably, the Rams running wild in the Meadowlands on the G-Men along with fellow NFC West constituent Seattle. Combined, the Rams and Seahawks defeated the Giants by a combination of 75-24. This is quite significant to unveil at the highest level of professional football. Nothing typifies the Giants woes more than when a 3rd and 30-plus yard was converted for not only a first down but a touchdown when Big Blue hosted the Rams, two weeks ago.
Out of the gate, we have lean on the Giants. This revealed by a three-point line move downward from the opening bell. However, analytics indicate that all the action is on KC. The Chiefs have 81% of the cash and 96% of the tickets booked with them. 92% of the consensus like the Chiefs in this scenario as well. Chances are there is an overlay taking shape before our very eyes. In Over/Under markets, the number has remained idle at 44 despite enormous action on the Over. 96% of the cash and 88% of the tickets have been invested in the Over in this market.
Quite frankly, no one wants a piece of the Giants at this point and we cant blame them. However, teams like New York are often subjected to loftier point spreads as a result of their poor performance portfolio. The good news, the Giants are on the receiving end of that. This is especially true when facing a team as premium as the Kansas City Chiefs. This game has all the makings of a trap for the Chiefs. The Giants have nothing to play for at this point and perhaps are being encouraged to tank. The Chiefs are trying to hold on the AFC West with the Oakland Raiders not too far behind. We have to like New York here with home field advantage coupled with the notion they will be playing looser.
