I would say that most times I get assigned a game to write on, especially in the NFL, I am excited and cannot wait to dig deep and find us a winner. Well, then there are times I get a game and I am like “Ugh…who would bet on this garbage?” Speaking of garbage, this Sunday we have the Miami Dolphins taking on the New York Jets. Now the word “garbage” may be a little harsh for Miami…they have potential. However, the New York Jets are just that, garbage. Anyhow, lets take a look at this “showdown” and find us a winner.

This line opened with the Miami Dolphins as a three point road favorite. After just two days of betting, the line shifted all the way to six points in favor of the fish. As for the total points, the line has stayed about where it opened with the total points being set at 42. So how did the line shift so dramatically? As of Wednesday morning, 77% of the betting action was on the Miami Dolphins to cover. The action is so heavy on the Dolphins that even when the line hit six points, they were still getting 57% of the betting action.

These two teams, both members of the AFC East Division play each other twice a year. Inner division rivals typically play each other pretty tight regardless of where they stand overall statistically or record wise. Miami has won the last two games between these two teams, but the Jets have actually taken four of the last seven match ups. This again will probably be a close game and come down to the fourth quarter.

The Miami Dolphins have only played one game in 2017. Their week one game against Tampa was cancelled due to the hurricane so they did not take the field til week two. In that game, they had a great game against the Los Angeles Chargers and ended up winning 19-17 after LA missed an easy game winning field goal in the final minute. Now, in that game, the Miami Dolphins played pretty well all around. The defense especially stepped up and held the Chargers to just 17 points. As for the offense, Jay Cutler played a pretty clean game in his first game as the Miami QB. He threw for 230 yards and a score, without a turnover in the win. Not only did Cutler do his part, but running back Jay Ajayi put up 122 yards on 28 carries. The Dolphins looked decent. This week, the key is the defense. I think they are in a position to where they can put this game away early. If the defense can keep the Jets offense off the field and the offense gets some early scores, this team will fold. I am pretty sure the New York Jets are tanking 2017 and I do not see them overcoming adversity, ever.

Like I already stated, the Jets will more than likely be the worst team in the NFL….and that is how they want it. This team needs to restart, reload, and redo everything. If any team gets them down, they will mail it in. Yes, that is just my opinion, but many others feel the same way, including 90% of the Jets fanbase. In the first two games on 2017, the Jets lost both, obviously. In those two games, they lost 20-12 to another bad team, the Buffalo Bills. In week two they got rocked by a legit AFC contender, the Oakland Raiders by a score of 45-20.

The Jets are that team this season that will be tough to gauge. They are probably going to be underdogs in every game and the more they lose these games will get harder and harder to predict. I will say this though. Miami is fresh. They have only played one game and won. The Jets are 0-2 and everyone knew coming into this season they would be one of the bottom feeders. As much as I hate taking huge road faves, I have to here. I think the Dolphins travel to New York and get an ugly 23-10 type win.
