The Steel City meets The Motor City when the Pittsburgh Steelers travel to Motown to face off with the Detroit Lions at Ford Field on Sunday, October 29th, 2017. The two teams will meet in a primetime showing on NBCs Sunday Night Football where all of the nation can view and watch. Kick-off is set for 8:30 PM ET.

The Lions enter off a bye week whilst the Steelers come in off a 29-14 win against the Cincinnati Bengals. Previous to this, the Steelers took down a then undefeated Kansas City Chiefs team in what was one of the performances of the year league-wide. Prior to their bye week, Detroit entered a nasty skid when they lost their last two heading into their week off. Between these two franchises, the two parties have not met since 2013 where Pittsburgh won by a score of 37-27 at Heinz Field. Overall, the Steelers have won the last four meetings between both squads but again these results were fostered on a four-year cycle due to NFL scheduling.

The Lions feature a true gunslinger in quarterback Matthew Stafford. The man is the face of the franchise and in the off-season the Lions committed to him in a record-breaking manner when he was issued a new contract. The Lions have been a middling team for some time now. They are good enough to contend and qualify for the playoffs but struggle mightily to get beyond their first fixture in the post-season. The Lions have some talent in their offensive skill set and thus own one of the most potent offenses in the NFL.

When it comes to potency there is no team like the Pittsburgh Steelers as they own arguably the two best players in the league from an offensive skill standpoint in running back LeVeon Bell and wide receiver Antonio Brown. The Steel Curtain was a nickname for the vaunted Steelers defense which prowled the gridiron in the late 70s. Though the Steelers are generally regarded as a defensive-oriented team that eats their steak and potatoes, Pittsburgh has shifted gears in recent years. Now, the focus is on offensive proficiency and the Steelers weapons have been instrumental in helping them earn wins of considerable margins this year against Baltimore, Minnesota, and aforementioned Cincinnati. The high point of this team as mentioned was their win against Kansas City at Arrowhead Stadium, two weeks ago. This result is still sending shockwaves across the league and is bound to keep takers clicking their mouses on the Steelers in online sportsbooks.

Despite the contrasting notions that accompany both outfits entering into this affair, the line is one that seems quite delectable for Pittsburgh takers. Generally, in contests of national attention, oddsmakers are that much sharper. Thus, there is a great chance that the Lions are in fact in position to compete in this contest contrary to popular belief. As a result of this, there is a propensity for a lot of heat to come in on Pittsburgh and set up takers for a huge fall if they are looking to hop on this gravy train in this spot. After all, when comparing the two sides, the Steelers have the more recognized name at coach, a more storied history, and a more positive public perspective. When they are offered at a deceptively friendly price, the Steelers in this situation are bound to be the final leg of many parlay tickets comprised from this weeks slate.

As a result of what has materialized over the past two weeks, what we have developing is a classic buy-low and sell-high scenario. The stock in Pittsburgh is steep while the Lions stock is diminished. As a direct effect of this, the Lions are a quality economy play. In going with the philosophy of finding value with the points, Detroit offers tremendous upside as a Money Line play in this venue as well. Punters can risk less to make more and Detroit has a significant chance of getting the win outright. However, for those that wish to keep it conservative, taking the field goal should yield dividends as well.
