Two teams coming off big wins last week meet for another big game when the Colts take on the Titans in an AFC South bout Sunday afternoon in Indianapolis. The Colts just rallied to beat Green Bay while the Titans just outlasted Baltimore, both in overtime. So these teams remain tied for first place in their divisional race. Indianapolis is favored by three and an all-important hook for this game; who do we like for our free NFL pick?

NFL Betting Odds

Week 12 NFL betting odds opened Indianapolis as a 3.5-point favorite here, with an over/under of 49.5. Early betting action then tripped that total up to 51.5.

Titans Betting Preview

Tennessee just bounced back from that loss to the Colts two weeks ago to beat Baltimore last week 30-24 in overtime. The Titans, playing as six-point underdogs, scored the first seven points of the game but trailed 14-10 at the half. Tennessee then fell behind 21-10 early in the third quarter, rallied to lead 24-21 before allowing the Ravens to kick a field goal with 15 seconds left to force OT. But the Titans then won it with a defensive stop on the first possession of extra time and a 73-yard scoring drive capped off by a 29-yard touchdown bolt by Derrick Henry.

Tennessee out-gained Baltimore 423-306 and out-rushed the Ravens 173-129. So the Titans have actually only out-gained four of their ten opponents this season. But they’ve also out-rushed seven of 10 foes, including the last four.

After starting this season, 5-0, Tennessee is only 2-3 both SU and ATS since.

Colts Betting Preview

Meanwhile, Indianapolis owns back-to-back victories over 7-3 teams, following its 34-31 overtime decision over the Packers last week. The Colts spotted Green Bay the first seven points of the game and trailed 28-14 at the half. Indianapolis then used a 17-0 run to go up 31-28 before allowing the Packers to kick a field goal with three seconds left to force OT. The Colts then won it with a defensive takeaway on the opening possession of extra time and a subsequent field goal.

Indianapolis also covered as a 1.5-point favorite.

The Colts out-gained the Packers 420-367, out-rushed Green Bay 140-66, held a 35:28 edge in time of possession, and won the turnover battle 4-2.

Indianapolis has now out-gained nine of its ten opponents this season and out-rushed six of 10 foes.

The Colts are also 4-1 SU, 3-2 ATS over their last five games.

At 7-3, overall, Indianapolis and Tennessee are tied for first place in the AFC South. But the Colts own the head-to-head tie-breaker, thanks to their 34-17 win over the Titans two weeks ago. If the playoffs started today, these teams would meet in Indianapolis for an AFC wild-card game.

Colts-Titans Recent History

Indianapolis is 4-1 both SU and ATS over the last five meetings in this rivalry, after winning in Nashville two weeks ago 34-17. Also, that game played over a total of 49.5 with plenty of time to spare.

Free NFL Pick

Indianapolis is the better team here and deserves to be favored. However, the Colts probably won’t benefit from four opponents’ turnovers this week, like they did last week against Green Bay. Meanwhile, Tennessee is playing through a bit of turbulence over the last month or so, but the Titans play the right kind of football for this time of the season. Yes, the Colts out-played Tennessee two weeks ago, but divisional rivals often flip scripts on each other. We’re thinking this one will be close in the fourth quarter, so we’ll take Tennessee and the points. Need a boost to your bankroll?
