Defending division champions clash when the Washington Football Team takes on the Bills for an interesting inter-conference battle Sunday afternoon in Buffalo. Washington, champions of the NFC East, just picked up their first win of the season with their new starting quarterback while the Bills, champions of the AFC East, also just won for the first time, mugging Miami last week.

Buffalo’s favored by a touchdown and a hook for this football affair; let’s dive into which way we’re looking at betting this one!

Redskins vs. Bills Betting Lines

Week 3’s NFL betting odds opened Buffalo at -9.5 over Washington, with an over/under of right around 46.5. Early betting action then dropped that spread two points to -7.5 and that total a point and a half to 45.

Washington-Buffalo NFL Betting Preview

The Football Team is 1-1 on the season after nipping the New York Giants last Thursday, 30-29. Washington spotted the Giants the first seven points of the game and trailed 10-7 late in the sec-ond quarter but scored just before the half to lead 14-10. The Team then gave up the first 10 points of the second half to fall down by six points, later they trailed 26-20 in the fourth quarter and 29-27 with two minutes left but drove 50 yards to a game-winning field goal at the buzzer.

Washington actually missed its first game-winning kick attempt but got bailed out by a New York penalty, leading to a second, more successful kick.

The Team out-gained New York 407-391 but got out-rushed 163-87. Washington also committed the only turnover of the game, which cost them three points, and lost time of possession by a 32:28 split. However, QB Taylor Heinicke, making his second career NFL start, played well, hit-ting on 34/46 throws for 336 yards and two touchdowns. So it looks like the Team might be OK at that spot.

WFT opened this season with a hard-fought 20-16 loss to the Chargers.

The Bills, meanwhile, are also 1-1 on the season after blanking the Dolphins in Miami last week 35-0. Buffalo took a 7-0 lead two minutes into the game, then stuffed the Dolphins on a fourth down and drove a short field to a 14-0 halftime lead. The Bills then drove the second half’s opening possession 75 yards to another touchdown and breezed from there for the easier-than-expected victory and the easy cover as 3.5-point favorites.

Buffalo only produced 316 yards of total offense last week but held Miami to just 216 yards. The Bills also out-rushed the Dolphins 143-71 and won the turnover battle 3-2.

Buffalo opened this season with a 23-16 home loss to Pittsburgh. The Bills actually led that game 10-6 through three quarters but fell behind, then had a punt blocked and returned for a Steelers touchdown, on their way toward an outright defeat as favorites of 6.5 points.

These two teams met most recently two seasons ago, a 24-9 Buffalo victory. The Bills covered that day as 10-point favorites, and the game played under a total of 37.

Free NFL Betting Pick

Washington’s defense only ranks 25th in the league so far this season, allowing 408 yards per game, but it’s better than that. And we like Heinicke. Buffalo, meanwhile, ranks No. 2 in de-fense, holding opponents to 234 YPG, but some of that has to do with Miami’s quarterback situa-tion. We see a close, relatively low-scoring game coming Sunday, and seven points will probably mean a lot. We’ll take Washington and those points for our free NFL betting pick in this spot.
