The Washington Redskins go on the road to take on their divisional rival Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field for Monday Night Football. The last 3 Monday night games have been very exciting right up to the final gun as 3 weeks ago there was the miracle in Kansas City, 2 weeks ago Minnesota kicked a last second field goal and last week we had the late long touchdown run by Derrick Henry to cover the spread for the Titans. Will this week provide excitement like that? This is a pivotal game in the NFC East as the Eagles lead the division with a 5-1 record and can really put themselves in a great position with a win as they would have a 3 game lead on other division foes. Both teams come into Monday night playing well as the Redskins have won 3 of their last 4 games and the Eagles are on a 4 game winning streak. The Eagles are currently the betting favorite to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
Washington is lead by QB Kirk Cousins who has completed 66.5% of his passes for 1,334 yards, 9 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. RB Chris Thompson has been the leading rusher for the Redskins averaging 4.9 yards per carry for a total of 175 yards. Rookie Samaje Perine seems to be getting more involved in the offense as he had 9 carries and 3 receptions in last weeks win. Chris Thompson is also the leading receiver on the team with 18 receptions for 340 yards. The WRs have struggled so far as TE Vernon Davis is the next highest receiver with 225 yards.
The Eagles are led by 2nd year QB Carson Wentz who has really elevated his game this year. Wentz has completed 60.1% of his passes for 1,584 yards, 13 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Injuries to Darren Sproles and Wendell Smallwood opened the door for LeGarrette Blount and he has responded with 390 yards rushing and an average of 5.9 yards per carry. Smallwood may be back for the week 7 matchup. TE Zach Ertz is have a great season so far with 34 receptions for 405 yards and 4 touchdowns. WR Nelson Agholor and Alshon Jeffery are also having fine seasons with Agholor contributing 321 yards and 4 touchdowns and Jeffery with 317 yards and 2 touchdowns.
