Yet another North London Derby is under way with English Premier League implications on the line for both squads. On Sunday, the Blues of Chelsea will host Tottenham Hotspur as the team will hop on the tube and renew their Piccadilly Line clash. Tottenham Hotspur comes in off a three point accumulating victory against fellow East End neighbor West Ham United, last week. Chelsea enters off a win against Middlesborough.
After a lackluster 2015-16 campaign, the Blues are back on top. Currently, Chelsea sits at the top English Premier League table with 19 points, just one point ahead of Liverpool. The Blues will play host to a Tottenham Hotspur team that loves to play the role of spoiler. The Spurs handed Manchester City their first defeat this season when they beat the Blues from the North by a score of 2-0. Tottenham has been in rather poor form as of late and thus they can certainly sneak up on Chelsea off the radar. The Blues have re-emerged and now, the Blues are contending for EPL and European accolades, a feature commonly associated with Chelsea football. The Blues will play this one in Stamford Bridge, where they are known for a robust home pitch advantage that has since been re-established after serving up a loss to Manchester United in titanic regard. However, Tottenham by no means will enter this one frightened of the confines of Stamford Bridge. This team is fully aware of the stakes on the table and North London as of late has been a hotbed of competitive action for all the clubs in the English Premier League who remain in contention for all sorts of prizes in a truly wide-open league.
The Blues have outscored opponents 7-0 in their last three fixtures and they are showing no signs of attrition in their ranks. The Blues have won their last three contests after losing to West Ham United 2-1. The Blues have defeated Southampton, Middlesborough and Everton. Against the Toffees, the Blues lit up the Merseyside bunch by a score of 5-0. Chelsea most certainly has their eyes set on the English Premier League crown.
This market is a difficult one to approach by virtue of the fact the Spurs remain in sell mode from a public perspective. Considering the Blues are at Stamford Bridge where they are traditionally unbeatable, seems like a very friendly price. Given the stocks of both teams in this situation, Tottenham has an opportunity to be a great steal at the price offered here as an outright but they have emerged as a viable second option for the public looking to take them back at 4.5 to 1. Tottenham Hotspur is a team that is no longer a walk in the park by any means and they have helped revitalize North London soccer after the North of England had imposed their will. It is hard to lay Chelsea at home but it is not inconceivable for there to be a draw as the Spurs did just that against their arch rival Arsenal at the Emirates, just two weeks ago.
For Tottenham a draw would be a victory and for Chelsea this would keep them in position to stay at the top of the table and keep the pressure on Liverpool. Tottenham and Chelsea have the firepower to open this one up to a full-blown barrage of goals and offense. However, they can both also take a conservative route in approaching this contest. The unpredictability makes the Over/Under difficult to forecast and no odds situation offer any true value or upside. Therefore in this weeks market, we will keep it strictly focused on the Draw at a potential net of 2.9 units.
