Oregon opens the season Saturday afternoon at Autzen Stadium as a 24.5-point favorite over Boise State with a total of 51.5. The value here is on the road team getting the big number.

The Ducks are the No. 2 team in the country and legitimately loaded. Dante Moore is back at quarterback, the defense returns most of its front seven, and Dan Lanning has built one of the most talented rosters in the sport. All of that is priced into the current line. What’s not being fully priced in is who Boise State actually is heading into this game.

The Broncos are not a random Group of Six body bag. They went 9-4 last year, they finished 6-2 in Mountain West play, and they’re the preseason favorite to win the newly configured Pac-12 at +135. That’s a team the sportsbook oddsmakers themselves have identified as the best Pac-12 program in 2026. Maddux Madsen returns at quarterback after a productive 2025 season where the Broncos scored 408 points. He’s not intimidated by big stages, and he has enough weapons around him to move the ball against real defenses.

Boise State scored 28.2 points per game last year. Even against Oregon’s tough defense — which allowed 18.9 points per game — the Broncos should be able to put up 17-20 points in this game. That’s enough to keep it inside 24.5 if Oregon wins in the 38-42 range.

Here’s the math on Oregon’s likely output. The Ducks’ 2025 offense averaged around 38 points per game against Big Ten competition. Against Boise State’s defense that allowed 23 PPG last year, Oregon should score in the mid-to-high 30s. Combine that with 17-20 points for Boise State, and you’re looking at final scores around 38-17 or 42-20 — right at or slightly beyond the spread, but within the range where a Boise State cover is very reasonable.

The season opener factor also matters. Both teams are integrating new pieces. Oregon added transfer Koi Perich from Minnesota to bolster the secondary, but new pieces take time to gel. First-game execution issues typically shave a few points off what a Top-3 team’s offense produces later in the year. That’s where the value on Boise State +24.5 lives.

Autzen Stadium is one of the loudest venues in college football, and the crowd will absolutely be a factor. But Spencer Danielson has coached his team through hostile environments before. Boise State went on the road and won at Utah State, at Nevada, and other tough Mountain West venues last year. They know how to handle loud crowds. Whether they can beat Oregon is a different question — probably not — but keeping it inside four touchdowns is very doable.

I looked at the total. It dropped from 52.5 to 51.5, which is a small move but suggests some Under money. With Oregon’s elite defense and Boise State likely to grind out drives, the Under has real merit. But the side offers cleaner value on this specific number.

The Pick: Boise State Broncos +24.5
