Los Angeles Dodgers at Milwaukee Brewers (NLCS Game 2)

Los Angeles is a slight road favorite over Milwaukee with the moneyline at Dodgers -126 and Brewers +105. My play is the Brewers at plus money.
Logan Henderson has owned the Dodgers this season. The young right-hander beat Los Angeles twice during the regular season, allowing one earned run over 12 innings for a 0.75 ERA. He works off a 90th-percentile fastball and has the best changeup in Milwaukee’s rotation, and he’s already shown he can navigate this lineup twice. Getting plus money behind a pitcher with that kind of track record against the opponent is value.
Milwaukee’s bullpen won Game 1. Jacob Misiorowski only lasted 4.1 innings in the opener, but DL Hall, Abner Uribe, Aaron Ashby and Trevor Megill combined for 4.2 scoreless innings to close out a 2-1 win. Brice Turang homered to tie it in the fourth, and Luis Lara drove in the go-ahead run in the fifth. The Dodgers went 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven on base. Their offense has been quiet all postseason, and Milwaukee’s relievers are rested and pitching with confidence.
The Brewers also have the momentum and the home field. Milwaukee won a franchise-record 103 games, the best record in the National League, and a win tonight sends the series to Los Angeles with the Brewers up 2-0. This is also the matchup that ended Milwaukee’s season last year, when the Dodgers swept them in the NLCS. Pat Murphy’s team has already shown it’s a different group this time.
The risk is Yoshinobu Yamamoto. He’s 9-1 with a 2.24 ERA in his postseason career, holding opponents to a .175 average, and he’s undefeated in six road postseason starts. He threw seven innings of one-run ball against Atlanta in the NLDS, and he beat Milwaukee twice this season, allowing two earned runs over 13 innings. He’s the reason the Dodgers are favored on the road after losing Game 1. But that reputation is already in the price, and Henderson’s history against this lineup isn’t. In a game projected to be decided by a run or two, I’ll take the home team with the better bullpen at plus money.
The Pick: Milwaukee Brewers ML +105
