With autumn in the air, the long-awaited return of the NFL is finally here. Coming in off what could be classed as the greatest comeback in sports history, the New England Patriots will begin their title defense as Super Bowl Champions. Two of their fiercest rivals from the AFC East will square off in their respective opening fixtures in Week 1 when the New York Jets head upstate to take on the Buffalo Bills. The Jets defeated the Bills on both occasions in 2016 and currently own a two-game winning streak over the Buffs. Kick-off is scheduled at 1:00 PM with the festivities to be aired live from New Era Field at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, New York on CBS.
In the early going, we have seen a heavy lean on the BIlls, likely as a reaction to the ghastly prognostications that surround the New York Jets. The Jets have a very low floor in 2017. In fact, some analysts predict that Gang Green will fail to win even one game. With New York offloading most of its talent to pick up younger prospects, accumulate draft picks, and free up cap space. The Jets taking the field here seems to be nothing more than a scheduled loss and an easy win for the Bills. The Bills however have a bone to pick. Buffalo finished 7-9 in 2016 and had they even split with the Jets perhaps they could have been in the mix for a playoff berth. In fact, Buffalos divisional record was what separated them from a possible postseason bid. The Bills went 1-5 in the AFC East and the one win was an incredulous shutout victory of New England in Foxboro. It could be fathomed that if the Bills could achieve such a feat, they could have at least split with the remaining two constituents of the AFC East. Buffalo failing to do so was the difference maker as Miami qualified as the sixth seed for the AFC Wildcard Round. The Bills are looking to change their stars in 2017.

The Jets are expected to be a train-wreck all season long. As was indicated by many analysts, this is a football team that is in a rebuilding year and cannot even determine who their starting quarterback is going to be. The quarterback controversy is among a litany of ills that plague Gang Green as the silver lining in what is supposed to be a dark season is the possibility that the Jets secure the top draft pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. However, with such low expectations for the Jets the amount of points we get to take them are likely enhanced. Very simply a team whose stock is so low will garner very little public action. The only way any book can entice action is by inflating the number with said team. The Cleveland Browns in 2016 illustrated this principle. The Jets will
likely be this years Cleveland and that means we will be able to scoff up tremendous value on Gang Green if they are against a middling team such as Buffalo.
We are going to fade the public and stay clear of the team that is likely being smothered as a result of an overreaction. The Jets are offered at a fantastic price given the fact that there is a possibility they can even win in this contest. The Jets know how to beat this team on the road so they know how to attack and approach the Bills in particular. The Bills rushing defense is subject to many queries and the bright spot of the Jets offense is their one-two punch of Matt Forte and Bilal Powell. The Bills will have their hands full in this one even if the Jets are not expected to be competitive. Lets also not forget that Buffalos offense has also been a mystery at times. The general trend for Buffalo was boom or bust. Such a style of play does not justify spotting this amount of points, even if it is to a team as bad as the Jets.
