Manny Speaks: Red Sox slugger Manny Ramirez was quoted as saying today that he is happy and wouuld like to spend the rest of his career with the team.- 2/21

From the Penthouse to the Outhouse: 2B Bret Boone, who hasn’t played since 2005, has signed a minor league deal with the Nationals. Don’t expect to see him back in a MLB uniform ever again though. – 2/20

As expected, the Mariners and Orioles completed a huge trade in which the Mariners receive stud lefty starting pitcher Erik Bedard who some consider the best pitcher in the A.L. now that Johan Santana has become an N.L. player. It cost the Mariners bigtime though as they had to give up top prospect speed/power guy Adam Jones who resembles a young Eric Davis, lefty reliever George Sherrill who has a tremendous ERA/Whip and minor league pitchers Tony Butler, Kam Mickolio and Chris Tillman. – 2/7

Thursday MLB Notes: Eric Bedard is in Seattle getting a physical. This pretty much sums up the curiosity on if he’ll become a Mariner soon. Look for this trade to be announced on Friday or Saturday. In other news, power hitting left handed hitting Ryan Klesko has decided to hang them up. Klesko, 37, could hit it as far as anybody in his prime. Thanks for the memories. – 2/7

Injured: Word out of Boston (Boston Globe) is that SP Curt Schilling will be sidelined until “at least” the All-Star break. – 2/7

Bedard Sweepstakes: The Orioles and Mariners are said to be only a day or two away from closing a deal that would send the ace pitcher to Seattle for prospects. – 2/6

The Texas Rangers are expected to name Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan as their team president. – 2/6

Finally: David Lane talks about the Mets and the Johan Santana Trade – 2/2

Starting in Right Field: The Seattle Mariners have signed RF Brad Wilkerson to a one year contract. This move makes it apparent that the Mariners are confident that they’ll land Bedard from the Orioles and that outfield prospect Adam Jones will be included in that deal. – 2/1

Major Trade Announcement:The New York Mets have reportedly traded for stud starting pitcher Johan Santana. The Twins reportedly are receiving 4 prospects for him. – 1/29

Fat Contract: The Twins have opened up their pocket books and signed slugger Justin Morneau to a 6 year deal for 80 million dollars. – 1/25

The Cubs and Orioles are talking blockbuster deal that would bring Beddard and B. Roberts to Chicago. This is interesting because the Mariners were said to be seriously interested in Bedard. Could the M’s silently be making plans to make an offer to Minny for Johan Santana? = 1/22

MLB Commissioner Bud Selig was given a 3 year contract extention today which means he retains the job through the 2012 season. – 1/17

Trade Rumors: Word is the Cards/Jays are looking at swapping third basemen. (Rolen for Glaus) – 1/12

Free Agent Signing: The St. Louis Cardinals have signed Matt
Clement
to a one year deal. – 1/3
