What better way to kick off the 2020 MLB season than the World Series Champion Washington Nationals vs. the New York Yankees? Two of baseball’s best pitchers in Gerrit Cole and Max Scherzer take the hill in what we hope will be an exciting uninterrupted season!
Gerrit Cole changing leagues will give him a huge advantage as American League hitters won’t be familiar with him. At +280 odds to win the coveted Cy Young Award, that also leaves some meat on the bone to select another pitcher to pair up with him in case the injury bug hits or he struggles to adapt. See Dan’s other prediction to win the AL Cy Young here!
NL Cy Young futures odds are a wide open race this season, especially if teams don’t play in their home parks. While Jacob deGrom has been lights out, his numbers may dip pitching away from Citi Field where he’s sported a filthy 2.41 ERA over the past three seasons. If he’s faced to pitch in Florida all season, who knows what can happen as he has a 4.00 ERA while playing in Marlins Park over the past three years.
Our office has opinions galore on NL MVP betting. This race is wide open, which means you need to either chase value or a the conservative angle of selecting a player on a winning team that you think has a shot get the spotlight, increasing his odds of winning the award.
AL MVP betting provides us with a tremendous wagering opportunity as the Angels Mike Trout is such a heavy favorite, it gives us a TON of value with the “other” players, which allows us to get down on three or four different bets that would all pay well if one were to win!
The 2020 AL ROY race promises to be an exciting one as some great young arms will get their shot at stardom. Odds on favorite has ChiSox Michael Kopech at +350. A’s SP Jesus Lazardo looks polished at +650. White Sox OF Luis Robert is surely worth a look at +400 as well, but can he stay healthy and cut down on whiffs? Check out Dan’s prediction before placing your bet!
NL Rookie of the Year betting appears to be a one-horse race with Dodgers 2B Gavin Lux leading the charge, but things don’t always turn out the way they should, so we’ll take a look at some of the other potential award winners such as Carter Kieboom, Mitch Keller, Cristian Pache and MacKenzie Gore as well.
