Last week, the Dallas Cowboys moved to 3-1 SU and 4-0 ATS by handing the Carolina Panthers their first loss of the season. In many ways, it was the Cowboys’ most complete performance on both sides of the ball. The Cowboys’ defense came away with several sacks, which led to two game-changing interceptions by CB Trevon Diggs. Meanwhile, the Cowboys’ offense was firing on all cylinders behind QB Dak Prescott and the two-headed monster running threat of Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard. With the 3rd straight victory, the Cowboys proved they are among the best teams in the NFC, and they will have the opportunity to take full control of the NFC East when they host the New York Giants at AT&T Stadium this Sunday.

The Giants ended their winless streak with a 27-21 overtime victory over the New Orleans Saints last week. The mild-upset was made possible by QB Daniel Jones, who threw for 402 passing yards with two touchdowns. The offense also got a boost from star running back Saquon Barkley, who continued to show improvement following last season’s ACL injury. Barkley actually ended the game with a 6-yard touchdown run and compiled 126 all-purpose yards on the afternoon. On Sunday, the Giants will look for their 2nd straight upset as 7 point underdogs in Dallas. The Giants are just 1-7 SU against the Cowboys in the last eight meetings and barring another huge offensive performance. They will likely continue their losing trend against America’s Team.

New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys Betting Analysis

I’m not overly impressed by the Giants’ victory last week, and that is simply because I believe the Saints’ are much worse than people expect. Either way, I have been impressed with the play of Daniel Jones, who continues to find ways to deliver. The Giants will need another big performance from their starting quarterback on Sunday, especially when you consider receivers Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton’s availability remains uncertain, with both players nursing hamstring injuries. While running back Saquon Barkley has shown improvement. I don’t think this is a great match-up for the Giants up front against the Cowboys defensive line.

Therefore, I feel like the Giants are going to need a really big effort in the passing game to keep this match-up competitive. In the last two weeks, Dallas has played extremely well on both sides of the football and is showing no signs of slowing down. QB Dak Prescott is looking like an MVP candidate and is spreading the ball around to a star-studded cast of receivers. In last week’s win against the Panthers, Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore got both tightened (Dalton Schultz and Blake Jarwin) involved often throughout the game. It proved that Dallas is so tough to defend, especially with Ezekiel Elliott running like a madman since all of the Tony Pollard media attention.

Ultimately, I don’t see the Cowboys struggling too much on the offensive side of the ball. The Giants have shown holes against the run and through the passing game. With such a balanced approach, I feel like this will be another strong match-up for the brilliant play-calling of Kellen Moore. The real x-factor surrounds whether the Cowboys’ defense can continue to overperform. The Dallas defense was among the worst in the NFL in 2020 but has shown tremendous improvement this season with new Defensive Coordinator Dan Quinn. The emergence of Trevon Diggs has certainly helped, but the entire defense is playing with more tenacity. If that continues, the Cowboys are going to be among the best teams in the NFC. I’m not sure if the Oddsmakers have given Dallas’ their ultimate respect yet, and for that reason, I believe they can get another cover in this upside match-up.
