In the end the Nats decided to give Scherzer and extra day off after pitching one inning in relief on Friday and will go tonight instead. It’s anyone’s guess if he’ll be affected by the outing. The oddsmakers have Washington as a -133 favorite giving the Dodgers some potential value at plus money.

The Nats put an end to the Dodgers eight-game winning streak with their 4-2 win on Friday. In that win today’s probable starter Max Scherzer pitched one inning striking out the side. He now comes back two days later to start. Will he not miss a beat or will the relief work take its toll?

The Yankees continued their winning ways over the Twins with an easy 10-4 romp last night. They’ll send out Masahiro this afternoon who hasn’t lost a game to the Minnesota in his career covering five starts. Can the Twins avoid falling in a 2-0 series hole?

The Yankees took four of the six contests between these two squads this season. Paxton had one start this season against the Twins tossing three scoreless innings and getting a ND in a Yanks win. Jose Berrios toes the rubber for the Twins and he’ll be making his first start against NYY since 2018 when they roughed him up for five runs in four innings pitched.

The Astros finished the season off strong winning six of their last seven games. They send out Ace Justin Verlander who owned the Rays in two starts this season pitching 12 1/3 innings of one run ball. Tampa Bay starter Tyler Glasgow had a decent as a starter back on March 30th, but this time around he’ll be the “opener” role. You’ll have to lay over two to one to bet Houston. The Braves took four of the six meetings these two teams played this season including two of three played at SunTrust Park in Atlanta. Keuchel didn’t start any of the six games and will be making his first start against the Cards since august 2016 when he was with the Astros. St. Louis starter Miles Mikolas made one start against Atlanta and it was pretty good going seven innings allowing three runs and striking out nine, but he took the loss in a 5-2 Braves win.

These two squads played seven games this season with the Athletics holding the edge in wins 4-3. Tampa Bay starter Morton pitched extremely well in two starts versus Oakland throwing 13 1/3 frames allowing just one run. A’s starter Manaea didn’t face TB this season but he’s been excellent allowing two or fewer runs in all five starts this campaign. It sure looks like an UNDER play should be considered.

The Brew Crew took four of the six meeting this season including Woodruff’s lone start against the Nats. Scherzer pitched well in his only start versus Milwaukee allowing one earned run in six frames pitched in a ND before the Washington came up short. Are the Brewers worth a play at nice odds?

Only two games mean anything on this final day of MLB’s regular season, and one of them takes place in St. Louis, where the Cardinals will try to secure a division title against the rival Cubs.

Dallas Keuchel has owned the Mets in two career starts with both coming this season. The Braves lefty picked up a win and a no decision, allowing zero runs in 13 innings pitched. The Mets Stroman has been solid in recent outings allowing just three runs in 18 innings over three games. Tough call from this vantage point, but our handicapper has a couple angles he’s banking on.

On paper the Astros have a big edge in the probable starters tonight with Wade Miley toeing the rubber for Houston based on his seasonal and Jose Barria getting the ball for the Angels. The Rays took the opener 2-1 for their fifth win in their last six games. It was also the sixth win over the past seven in this series by the home team. Tampa Bay goes with the hot Charlie Morton for this game who has posted three consecutive quality starts. Jonathan Loaisiga gets the ball for the Yankees who have lost his last four starts. The Indians destroy lefties which doesn’t bode well for the White Sox with a struggling Hector Santiago on the mound. Cleveland starter Clevinger has been doing his part all season and comes into this off five consecutive quality starts. The problem here is the number. Is there ever any value in laying -270?
