He’s looking forward to a match-up against a Patriots defense that ranks 20th or below in every major defensive category and over their last couple games against pocket passers have gotten lit up by Nick Foles and Blake Bortles. But the Pats win over 80% of their last 52 games after a loss… and they have Tom Brady as well as a 6 point spread. Mike Mann goes in depth.

The season has opened a little unevenly for a Niners team that rode Jimmy Garoppolo’s arm to a strong 2017 finish. Then again, a one-score loss at the Vikings and beating the Lions isn’t so bad for a team that hasn’t much to celebrate recently. 49er backers are getting 6.5 points versus the Chiefs, a full touchdown less than last time these two teams met.

Rodgers’ knee is not going to be 100% for several weeks based on reports from Green Bay and while he seems capable at many levels, the Packers are clearly less of a team without him at his peak. There was promise surrounding the Texans going into 2018. Houston returns players on both sides of the ball who would have been a big part of the success in 2017. We are talking about quarterback DeShaun Watson and defensive end J.J Watt. Both were shelved for the remainder of the season in 2017 when they suffered bad injuries. The Titans are a wounded duck and the talent difference between these two teams is more than the Titans can overcome on a good day. Jacksonville would be a candidate to for a let-down week, but the Titans beat them twice last year so that should be enough to keep the Jags focused.
